Notes: This is a sweet AU. Not as totally AU as I thought, actually, but quite. There's no magical healing at all, just dealing with it.

Notes: This fic deals with the fact that there's magic and angels and a hope of healing by making it a trade. It doesn't come easy. It reminds me of the gods' interventions in the Fionavar Tapestry, somehow -- earned, not a gift. I don't like the sequel as much because, for me, it takes away some of that. But this is gorgeous. Love, and sacrifice, and hope.

Notes: This was written especially for me, and it's so awesome. It covers a long healing process, both of Dean's own body and his relationships to other people. There's magic, an acknowledgement of the potential for that kind of healing, but it's thwarted and things don't quite work out the ideal way. Which is the way life works.

It's nearly time for posting to start on au_bigbang. I have been waiting impatiently to make this post since the end of March. Consider this a heads up: there is going to be a ton of awesome fic over at au_bigbang, very soon.

In particular, there's going to be my fic, "Right Where We Belong", on the 10th. Summary: When John dies, Dean ends up at the roadhouse and is brought up by Ellen as Jo's big brother. Growing up there is no protection, though -- not when the apocalypse is about to start.

It includes: woobie!Dean, badass!Ellen, bratty!Jo, clueless!Castiel and misguided!Sam! There is angst! There is violence! Dean is mute and scarred and did I mention woobie? And the world is saved by hugging!

I am not even joking.

There's this SPN artist I kinda like. And so when she posted on deancastiel, and the warning was "BAMF!cas", I clicked on the pic she posted. Because I like BAMF!Cas.

I got this. For those who can't see or don't want to click, it's a picture of Castiel with the text: "Maybe I can't trust you, Dean, but I can rape you."

And the text, in case she changes it? "If you don't agree you're probably crazy somewhere up there there's probably a button with a strike on it...it will help you to go back."

"I don't agree. This is not because I'm "probably crazy", this is because I've been raped. And I don't find it funny. And I don't find the culture of finding rape funny amusing either.
"BAMF!Cas" does not cover "lol you're about to get triggered and I think it's funny"."

Not asking anyone to dogpile the artist about it, but nor do I think blithely letting it be okay is a good answer.

Okay. This is ridiculous. I need to catch up with Supernatural S5. There are three problems with this.

a) I'm not sure I'll have the time, once I've finished watching Merlin. Exam/essay-time coming up.
b) The more I avoid watching it, though, the more reluctant I am to catch up, because after each episode everyone says it will break my heart.
c) I am terrible at watching things without pausing. I regularly get too embarrassed for the characters, or too upset, or just too damn wriggly. I paused in the middle of Free to be Me and You, the day after it first aired, and I never unpaused.

There is possibly also:

d) If there are gross/frightening/upsetting parts, I won't be able to watch it when alone in my flat because it may increase my anxiety.

But I think I'll take that as it comes.

Help? Give me incentives? Tell me how awesome it is and promise that Kripke will heal me as much as he hurts me (ha, ha, not likely)? Help!

Final Fantasy VIII's Rinoa is often quite disliked. I can see why people dislike her character, too, though replaying the game once I was slightly more mature I tried to look for what was interesting in her, what was realistic about her. I don't mind, though, when people just can't stand her.

What I mind, though, is when someone says they don't like her because she's [quote] "a silly slut". There is absolutely no evidence for that in the game -- she has a romantic plot with Squall and a past with Seifer is implied. If that makes her a slut, I despair of the world entirely.

I hate the trend of flinging the word "slut" around, in its entirely -- I hate it when I see it applied to any female character because nine times out of ten, it's just knee-jerk "oh noez [female character] stole my bishie, fuck u wh0re diiiie" and/or "oh noez [female character] broke up [slash pairing], fuck u wh0re diiie".

This just in: Rinoa Heartilly is not a slut. Switching fandoms, neither is Anna Milton, or Jo Harvelle, or Cassie Robinson, or Jessica Moore... (SPN fandom is a big culprit.)

Dean Winchester? Probably a slut.

When/if I run the Women of SPN Big Bang, I think I'm going to ban the word slut.
