"How long has he been here?" Rosa's tone is shocked, something in her expression is betrayed. Cecil stands beside her, uncomfortable, a hand on her shoulder. Edge shrugs, slightly, wishing he knew how to lighten the moment.

"Not long. He just turned up one day, said he wanted to help rebuild."

"He came to you first?"

"Yeah." Edge shrugs again. "Look, who knows what's going on in that head of his? I don't really know anything about it. Maybe you should talk to him."

For a second, he regrets the lie he's telling. But it releases him somehow anyway as Rosa rushes over to Kain, and he can't feel too bad about that. He wonders how Kain will deal with it. Not talking works perfectly well between them, but Rosa'll want some explanations.

What a teaser! I love the concept that Kain might go to Edge first. It has so much potential. He could kind of ease back into life and living, and help to do something constructive without Cecil and Rosa hovering and mothering over him so much... not having to deal with the past, just kind of working with Edge (and inadvertantly bonding).

This should be neat.
