Review - Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Jul. 19th, 2008 08:13 pmIf you haven't seen it, and musicals are at all your taste, go and see Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog now while it's still online, seriously. In summary: I think it's really brilliant. I'll veer away from spoilers here, but I wanted to at least say something outside of friends only lock.
The songs are all brilliant. Particularly "Freeze Ray", the ones that open and close the second act, and "Slipping" and "Everything You Ever" from the third act. Or, well. You know. All of them. I've got the fan-ripped soundtrack right now, and I love it very, very much.
The characters are amazing considering that it's an internet musical that lasts about forty minutes in total. Dr Horrible is so awesomely adorable. The plot is pretty predictable, particularly if you know Joss Whedon's tendencies, but it's still awesome. It's funny and heart-rending by turns! In forty minutes.
I didn't know how to feel about the last act, but really, I think it's amazing -- the last song clinches that.
I'm going to buy the DVD, when and if it's available. If it's out on the UK iTunes ever, I'm going to buy it there as well -- the only thing I've ever wanted to use the video part of my iPod for. If there's an official soundtrack, it's mine.
In the meantime, I might have to bittorrent it once it goes offline, because I love it so much.
