Review - Gladiator
Aug. 8th, 2009 11:13 amGladiator is one of my favourite movies, I think. I saw the novelisation in a charity shop yesterday and decided that I'd buy it, for some quick and easy reading. It's based on the screenplay, so there isn't really anything new in it. Well, except a few more explanations and maybe a couple of extra scenes -- it's been a while since I saw Gladiator last.
It's not badly written, anyway. It's not inspired, but it's easy enough to read. Since it takes (almost?) everything verbatim from the movie, it's sometimes a little lacking -- what works on the screen doesn't always work on the page, after all. One could wish for some more creative interpretations, but I guess you don't expect that kind of thing from a movie novelisation anyway.
