I agree. Most April Fools are juvenile or downright hurtful.
On the other hand, this day has produced one or two gems over the years. In today's Independent, they published a story suggesting that the London Underground might provide the site for a new hadron collider - you know, with all the tunnels being there already. It tickled me because when they started building the real one, in Switzerland, I remember reading about how much it was costing them to tunnel and suggesting exactly this to a friend.
